Masterpieces.
That is exactly what each and every one of us is. A dazzling masterpiece that defies explanation even though most of us will walk through life fitting into every bland description others give us, or worse still, unflattering definitions that we give ourselves which are way below our true value. Many end up living less-than-average lives, fettered and caged by the world’s interpretations of what is ideal, and walking away from our true ideal – the purpose and the ‘why’ for which we exist.
It is amazing how everything around us can help us see that we are worth so much more than we ever give ourselves credit for. Even a tiny creature like a spider. I was tracing the movement of one some time ago as it intricately wove its web, and several things struck me. For starters, for its entire lifetime, all that a spider requires to make a web is stored right inside it. However many webs the spider needs to create, even if it was to do so every day of its existence, all the resources required lie within it. It has no need to have any external storage outside itself for the silk it uses to make the web. A lifetime supply of inbuilt web raw materials already lie in wait inside its body.
The web provides all the food and nourishment the spider needs and it does not have to work too hard to get fed once the web is up – food will find its way to the web. It’s an instinctive skill for the little creatures as nobody has to teach spiders how to create a web – it simply executes this one thought and we marvel at the wonder of it. They are one of nature’s gems that display the splendour of our world.
Science reveals that a human mind will have an average of about 6,200 thoughts in a day – a mind-boggling thought in itself. The difference with spiders is that the thoughts may not all be instinctive – we get to choose many of them, and which ones to dwell on. There is no telling what a marvelous world we would have if some of the numerous brilliant ideas and transformational thoughts humans have had daily, out of the 6,200, could be brought to reality, and used to revolutionise the world and humanity. Many through the ages and centuries have understood the power we wield and the vast influence we can use to advance the cogwheels of time faster through technology and other discoveries – which all start at conception with a simple thought.
Others, however, remain with the daily 6,200 thoughts and nothing else. What a waste! The wonders the world is waiting for lie within each of us, as thoughts, waiting to be explored and to find expression beyond the thought-sphere. Humanity’s next phase awaits those that move on to execution. And it is these that the creation eagerly waits to celebrate and garland with accolades for being bold enough to change their world. And the amazing thing is that it is not limited to just a special few – it can actually be each one of us – all eight billion of us on earth.
Each of us is a creative masterpiece, a story of a lifetime, waiting to be told.
