As the dawn breaks and darkness fades, a mute falls over the crickets. Enter the cock crow and the bird chirps, applauding and cheering as the new day ventures forth. There’s a non-verbal, almost unnoticed, exchange as light appears, with a promise of passing on the baton again at sundown. Perfect tandem.
And so goes the clockwork on our terrestrial system. Day and night maintain their consistency without missing a beat. Spring warms the frosty earth after winter, and with it comes the promise of new life. Summer’s blazing heat whets the earth’s appetite for rain, and prepares its palates for the coming harvest in autumn. In turn, autumn brings with it a bounty from nature’s storehouse, just before winter shuts down all systems for hibernation and recuperation, to allow for sufficient replenishing before another cycle of hard work. Yet, no bells ring, no alarms go off and no trumpets are blasted to herald the next season. These all work in perfect union, each making way for the next when the time is due. Nature celebrates each as unique and perfectly placed in the system.
Similarly etched deep within every soul that ever lived is the potent power to affect the surrounding, over and above the effect the seasons have on earth. Each of us is uniquely packaged at birth to stand out from the crowd and fulfill specific mandates. Instead, most settle for less and die as physical and mental paupers who are poor imitations of the intended originals.
Our very existence right from dawn to sunset, if lived in tandem with our purpose, should evoke from everyone around us a celebration that doesn’t end. However, we are constantly pressing the alt-ctrl-del button for our purpose every time we try to be like others. We leave our posts unmanned and open to attack when we go about being everyone else but ourselves.
A lot of times we gladly give the pen and ink to others to author our lives, terminate our potential with their comments, and by the stroke of their words, condemn us to the trash bins of doom and dissipation. Understand that everyone is important and unique, whether they look or act like it, or not. It is not just the colour on our skin, or the country where we were born, or so many other reasons we would quote that cause us to stand out. It is the potent power inside us all, the power of thought way beyond our paycheck, to change humanity for the better, through our ideas, untapped skills, talents and abilities.
You see, the same God who placed earth’s populations, past, present and future in Adam’s loins, knew He could set the forest in a seed, then watch it grow. He also knew the exceeding potential of one idea, if acted upon, to become a multitude of ideas and new products that can change humanity for the better. He was done with creation on the sixth day. He never created the phones, the sky scrapers, airplanes, roads, or every other technology literally – though, in essence, He did. He placed all these in man’s mind.
Human choice is usually the major factor as to whether these ideas will be actualised or not. Every solution to problems that mankind has ever faced is not too far from them. Whether we are enjoying everything we should be having with us, is a question whose answers lie within each of us. You have a choice and a chance to positively affect and influence the world around you for good, if you just did what you are here to do.
Question is, what are YOU bringing to the party?
